ERICKA DIAZ WOODS
FOUNDER
Hola, my name is Ericka. We opened Newlin House without an ounce of premeditated thought or experience. I kid you not, a vintage shop was NEVER in the plan…
Now, I’m neurodivergent soooo I’ve been know to change a hobby or two throughout the years, BUT my love for food has never veered. I’m Mexican and I was raised to understand that food connects us, it transports us, it nourishes us… therefore kitchens have to be the most important rooms in our homes… think about everything they house!!!! I believe we should have art and plants and life in our kitchens… I think we should have access to quality food for our kitchens, I think we deserve to have pretty spaces in our neighborhood… look, I selfishly just wanted a shop that I NEEDED to exist, that welcomed brown bodies that looked like my own, and that did not alienate the community but cultivated it.
We are completely family owned and operated. I along with my husband Mark opened the shop BUT this ship doesn’t run without the support from our extended family so this is very much a family affair.
I don’t know if we’re doing what we’ve set out to do YET but, I will tell you that we’re trying our best every single day, I’ll tell you that we’ve met some AMAZING people along the way, I’ll tell you that we’re proud of what we’ve done thus far, and I’ll tell you that we’re grateful for the community we’ve built with all of you. For better or for worse, we give you NEWLIN HOUSE. -Ericka ✌🏽❤️🍽️
